ELF a Total brand celebrates 50 years of innovation and motorsport success

ELF is celebrating its 50th year anniversary, having been a winning brand since 1967. As a significant lubricant player worldwide, ELF has spent 49 of its 50 years participating in motorsports competitions all over the world.  

Beginning in 1968, the special partnership with Renault helped Elf take home 18 Formula 1 drivers’ and constructors’ world championship titles and grew beyond racing through a major marketing agreement to recommend Elf lubricants for Renault vehicles.  Famously in 1969, Jackie Stewart took the first of his three Formula 1 world championship titles at the wheel of the Matra MS80 in 1969, with the Elf logo prominently displayed.

The expertise accumulated over the 50 years means that ELF is trusted by leading international manufacturers, and it’s created long-lasting partnerships with brands including RENAULT, DACIA, NISSAN and KAWASAKI.

In 2000, ELF bolstered its position by becoming a TOTAL brand.  Putting technological innovation, research and cutting-edge technology into high gear, ELF produces motor oils and lubricants fit for champions. In fact, ELF has also participated in World Superbike, MotoGP, World Series by Renault, and World Endurance.
